Hi, I’m Stacy.
You are the reason I do this work.
I was in similar shoes as you – struggling with severe anxiety and accompanying depression for years until I could find someone to help (which was not easy!). I always told myself that if I could get help and start living my life again, I would return to grad school to help others do the same.
That is exactly what I did, and I’m so happy to be able to work with you. It’s an honor to walk these paths with you as I see you gaining new realizations from the areas that keep you stuck and supporting you as you make decisions and take new paths forward that you never thought possible.
Here’s a bit about my Education and Training.
I received my Master of Arts in Professional Clinical Counseling from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota in 2007. I also received a Life and Corporate coaching certificate from Coach University in 2004.
I have experience creating and running the mental health department of an inner-city free clinic, running groups and sessions for anxious students in high schools, working with people struggling with eating disorders in an inpatient unit, working with LGBTQIA+ clients, coaching college-aged students to function at their peak, while addressing their ADHD and anxiety, working at a group practice, and seeing clients in private practice.
I founded Therapy Outfitters, Inc. to bring hope and momentum to many people.
My primary approach involves Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
This therapeutic approach is an evidenced-based 3rd wave behavior therapy that focuses on mindfulness and valued action. Essentially, it’s an action-oriented approach that includes behavioral and cognitive behavior therapy.
Clients learn tools to stop avoiding their fears, anxieties, and emotions, and accept that these are all part of the human condition. This acceptance allows us to realize that we don’t need to let these concerns keep us from being present in our lives and fully living.
Eventually, clients come to accept their struggles and start making steps toward things that are important to them. When clients become more flexible with their thinking, their world starts opening.
I do incorporate other therapy modalities but always keep a significant focus on flexible thinking and valued action.
Outside the therapy room, life is rewarding.
When I’m not working, you can often find me hiking, spending time with my two sons (ages 13 and 17), exploring with my partner, traveling, and enjoying the outdoors with my dog. I’m a bit obsessed with fresh air and spending time outside!
Life doesn’t have to feel so challenging – and fear doesn’t have to run it. Call today and schedule a free consultation so we can get you outfitted for your journey forward.
